Passenger Hostel, Porto to Pocinho then Pinhão (Portugal) – October 2022

I went to work for the day. Returned home. Travelled to Gatwick and then took a flight to Porto. Landed past midnight.

Took an Uber to the Passenger Hostel thinking I’d spend less than 6 hours there taking the first train out. But. It was too beautiful. So I stayed until after breakfast. And it’s so beautiful it deserves more than just a spot in the alliteration in the title but my photos really don’t do it justice at all.

Calling it a hostel doesn’t justify what it is.

This building was an old office and now has some three-level bunk rooms as well as private rooms and beautiful living/communal spaces on all of the floors which have been artfully designed and curated.

Breakfast is included, there are so many lovely activities that are put on. I will go back.

I took some photos in, of and from São Bento train station.

Then I took a beautiful old train from São Bento all the way to the end to Pocinho (video, more info). I bought tickets using the CP App.

The tracks follow the river and at times feels like a boat more than a train:

Then returned on it to Pinhão.

And joined friends for wine tasting.

We stayed at Lamego Hotel & Life.

The next morning we took a taxi to the top of Monte de Santo Estêvão with the Santuário de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios.

Walked down.

Looked back up quite a few times.

Then took a taxi back to the hotel to get on the coach to get driven to Porto. And the beginning of another wedding celebration started the next evening at this beautiful Palácio da Igreja Velha:
