Went to Spain for the first time (I had one transit in Madrid on the way back from Costa Rica in 2019 prior to this)!
Ryanair from (West) London hack: we took a train from Euston to Birmingham International to fly Ryanair to Santander rather than trek to Stansted (which would’ve been coach or train from Liverpool Street) – it worked out cheaper and faster from West-ish Central London.
The entire point of the trip was to witness our Costa Rica residents have their civil ceremony, which was at the most grand and beautiful Palacio de la Magdalena. As we were wedding guests we were able to take cars/taxis all the way up to the top of the palace. If we weren’t there for the wedding we would’ve had to park at the bottom and take the “toy train” or walk up.
